Our first value at TransPro is to commit to continuous learning to bring insights and value to our clients and teammates. As a firm, we bring this value to life by creating opportunities for expanding our knowledge, both within the transit agency and beyond. Recently, we spent a week learning from leaders in customer service oriented businesses; discussing various approaches to delivering VALUE to customers.
The value of continuous learning also applies to personal development. When I first started at TransPro, this value’s application to my work seemed obvious: I was at the very beginning of my career, and every experience was a learning opportunity.
After almost two years, I’m still at the beginning of my career, but with a little more experience and knowledge. I’ve realized that the avenues for pursuing continuous learning are more expansive than I originally assumed. Of course, I learn from reading articles and industry publications, but I also learn from the experiences of my colleagues, and from the examples they set as leaders and teammates; I learn from really listening to our clients; and of course, I’ve learned a lot from my own mistakes and successes.
TransPro’s commitment to continuous learning goes beyond our daily values. I started pursuing my Master’s in City and Regional Planning this fall, in part because of the example set by my colleagues, and their constant support and encouragement. Pursuing education will just be one of the many ways I strive to bring greater insight and value to the work we do.
