Cost Reduction and Process Improvement for Transit Maintenance Facility Reorganization

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In 2017, TransPro CEO Mark Aesch worked directly with the Secretary of a New England-based Department of Transportation to overhaul of DOT’s municipal public transportation system and to improve the massive agency’s responsiveness to the DOT.

Through a series of internal workshops and improved process development and reporting structure, Mark and his team supported the Secretary to allow substantial reforms and restructuring to be approved by the Fiscal Control Board.

Outcomes of this work included:

  • Establishment of a new labor agreement
  • Board approval of cash room and call center outsourcing
  • RFP released for outsourcing of maintenance facilities
  • All collectively bargained for and agree to by organized labor
