Character, Competence, & Chemistry: Recruitment Practices that Drive Excellence

Finding the right team members is an important key to achieving organizational success. Many of our client partners go through a strategic planning process which clearly defines success, performance metrics, tactics, milestones, and owners. It’s the ownership of the team that assures tactics are completed and measurable success occurs. This means successful organizations have to have the right team in place to accomplish organizational success.

TransPro’s experience in executive recruitment is about more than leveraging a network to provide the best resumes. The resume is a valuable tool in the hiring process, but the recruitment of successful team members requires a thoughtful understanding of the organization’s direction and values. When TransPro is leading an executive search, we listen to understand these objectives and then drive a search process to provide potential candidates that meet the 3 C’s.

  • Character: is the candidate a good person? We pre-screen candidates that have applied and also recruit people of high character, looking specifically for potential fits that are honest and forthright.
  • Competence: can the candidate do the job? This could go without saying, but it’s important to know if the candidate has the experience to do the required job.
  • Chemistry: does the candidate fit? Alignment between an organization’s culture and the candidate ensures a long-term successful fit. We make extra effort in preliminary screening, interview questions and follow-up with hiring managers to make sure the chemistry is positive. Some candidates are great people with tremendous skills, but if they don’t fit with the culture, they won’t succeed long-term.

Through years of building high performing, strengths based, public sector teams, we know that the 3 C’s provide long-term organizational success in recruiting team members that drive excellence.
